What can I Colour/Tint my Resin with?

Accepted Answer

Various types of pigment pastes, inks, powder pigments and even acrylic paint.
Suggest to stay below the ratio of 10% (tint to resin) for best results.
Be sure to add a little bit at a time, until you reach your desired colour. *Making note that some acrylic paints or pigment additives may not be compatible and may accelerate curing due to high water content.

Question 4

Why are some pastes thicker than others?

The density of pigments varies, and the viscosity of some pigments varies too. You will find that some pigments are higher in viscosity (thicker) than others. Once agitated/stirred, you will find it will move more freely. If you find that it doesn't, be sure to send us an email.

When working with pigment pastes, it is best to give the jar a good stir before use, and when adding the pigment to your resin, we suggest to start with a small amount, and gradually increase the loading until you have reached your desired opacity. 
Our pastes are highly concentrated, meaning a little goes a long way 😊

Can I use pigment pastes with acrylic mediums or on their own?

Pigment pastes are designed to be used with epoxy resins.

Question 6

Why are my Epoxy Pastes solid / hard / crumbly ?

Accepted Answer

This is happening due to the very high pigment loading, and small amount of pure epoxy.
When the jars experience near sub degree temps or under, the pure epoxy can solidify (and our Melbourne warehouse gets super chilly!).
To bring the Epoxy Paste back to its smooth consistency, please follow the below steps...
Place the pigment in a plastic bag, and then in a bowl of hot water for about 20mins or so, give a good stir, and it should become fluid again. This may need to be repeated once or twice.
If you wish, you may also add a few mls of Part A (resin only) to the jar of pigment once its fluid, which will extend out the pigment loading. Alternatively you can also gently wave your heat gun over the top to loosen up the pigment for use.
Keeping in mind that high pigment loading is what is creating such vibrant artwork!
